Because of the clear and not too fast accent, it’s the perfect place to start learning the language or to improve your skills. Having some Spanish knowledge will come in very handy during your volunteer work, where you can continue practicing with the children. If you want to immerse yourself even more in the local culture and history of the Cusco region, then taking Quechua classes is what you are looking for. This language stems all the way back from the Incan times, and as spoken still by millions of Peruvians, it is the second official language here. Quechua is spoken in several countries in South-America, but has many different dialects. As most of the children at Corazón de los Apus come from families where Quechua is their first language, and some of their parents hardly speak Spanish, you will have the perfect opportunity to practice!
Classes can be private or in small groups (max. 4 people), depending on your preference and demand. If there are more volunteers or if you have friends who would like to join, we can form groups for you to take classes together.
